How does a gift exchange work?
The way a fandom gift exchange works is you are anonymously paired with another fan, and get to create a piece of fan content based on what they like. On the designated day, everyone posts the gifts they created, and will receive a gift from whoever was paired with them. This event have multiple phases.
Sign ups, creation period, check in, and posting day.The sign up is a form that you can state preferences for what kind of content you'd like to receive (like ships, general themes, just whatever you want to receive) and what you would like to make (a fanfic vs fanart, what ships or themes you like creating, etc.).Then the mods will anonymously pair you with someone else, and send their preferences sheet to you. Once you receive this, that begins the creation period. You would be expected to make something off of what they like, and complete it before the posting day.On the designated posting day, you post your creation and tag the person you made the gift for. Whoever made your gift will also post on that day and tag you.The schedule has more information for when these specific stages begin and end.
